Crossroads of America
UPDATE: I was able to move to Loop A and will now be at Site 51 - come say hi!
In just one week, I leave Kansas City and head to Indiana for Crossroads of America 2017.
My husband, Joel and two daughters, Brooke and Julie, are coming along for the trip. We will travel halfway Thursday due to getting a late start and should pull into the McCormick campground midday Friday.
It was an almost last minute decision to attend CRA 2017 but once I realized the dates might work, I chatted with Dana Parsons at Missouri Teardrop. Dana is the proprietor of a small RV dealer on the outskirts of Kansas City. He is a wealth of knowledge on all things pertaining to teardrops and tiny camping. They not only sell teardrops but also have a small rental fleet for folks to try out the idea of teardrop camping. Early this spring, I took a Little Guy Silver Shadow to a Tearjerker's gathering in Nebraska. So for this trip, we are taking the same Silver Shadow to CRA.
Due to the late registration, I was unable to get a site in the main loop. If you are attending, be sure to swing by site 170 in Loop B. I plan to bring some free Cool Tears swag with me! My plan is to visit as many campsites as possible, and meet as many teardrop fans as I can.
BUILD UPDATE
So it's STILL slow going. I've never worked much with metal so I had much to learn. I'm finally happy enough with the under floor storage to move on to the actual build. Eventually, the sliding drawers under the galley will need more work but I need to see how the rest of the galley falls into place before knowing the best way to utilize that space.
The front storage can now be accessed via doors that flip up. I used the items from the Big Woody Teardrop kit for these doors. And I followed their directions for side doors. I don't need the items for my side doors as I have manufactured doors from Purdy Teardrops to use. More coming in the future on the doors.
So now begins the floor and initial wiring. I hope to complete those steps this weekend. Walls will have to wait until after CRA to begin.
The plan is still to have the teardrop to ready to camp in by the October gathering with the Heartland Tearjerkers. Pressure is on!
